2011 Season Opera Novella is delighted to announce an expanded tour featuring two operas- Verdi's Rigoletto and Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado. Our dates are listed below.
Rigoletto is directed by Howard Guard. His concept incorporates bold contrasts of black and white which is a visual demonstration of the tragic/comic nature of Rigoletto's predicament. The production will be sung in English by a cast of seven and will be accompanied by our chamber ensemble of six.
The Mikado is directed by Gilbert & Sullivan mainstay, Sally-Ann Shepherdson. Full of fun and frivolity, the production is a revival of Sally-Ann's highly successful staging. The cast come from a pool of former D'Oyly Carte and Carl Rosa singers, bringing their wealth of experience to this hilarious show. The production has a cast of seven and is accompanied by our chamber ensemble of six.
These two shows, in addition to our successful production of Carmen and our galas, are available for private hire. We create bespoke versions of our shows to fit in any venue and make the most of our surroundings indoor or out. We are proud to have brought our full scale productions to gardens, churches, parks, barns, even a purpose-built amphitheatre and an island.
